With the scorching heat, we are all stuck indoors with our kids bored and unmotivated.

This guide will help you create an indoor environment full of fun, independence, and creativity away from the screens.

The activities below are all based on Montessori education that aims to help the child grow their independence, sensory explorations, and hands-on learning skills; and it’s all INDOORS!

1. Practical Life Activities

Children LOVE being independent and doing tasks alone. Practical life activities are the core of Montessori learning. You can pretend play with your child such as pretend cooking. Another practical life activity is letting the child help with daily home chores such as cleaning using their own cleaning toys.

2. Indoor Lab

Let the exploration begin! Doing fun science experiments at home can be fun and helps the children learn and discover more. Conducting experiments ignites the child’s hands-on learning, curiosity, and creativity.

Online you can find a water experiment kit with more than 20 experiments using just water which encourages critical thinking and problem-solving. It’s learning and having fun at the same time!

3. Language Activities

Language activities can also be fun when done through games. For example, children can learn vocabulary through sticker books and crosswords.

Not to forget, babies also get bored indoors.

4.Sorting and Matching

Sorting and matching activities can also aid children’s cognitive and organizational skills. Picture cards and letters/numbers sorting enhance their ability to categorize and recognize patterns which are essential skills.

Let them in the kitchen!

The kitchen is a place that can be highly entertaining for the little ones and cooking and baking can make the time FLY. Bake a cake or cook a meal with your child and enjoy it. This will foster their sense of accomplishment.

6. Arts and Crafts

Create a reading atmosphere at home; for example, do a reading corner in your house. Eliminate the typical boring reading sessions and do reading out loud together. Not forgetting, choose books that can help them learn more about our earth such as the Think Green Activity Book.

8. Puzzles
