They say reading is the key that unlocks a world of possibilities within you.
It is the catapult to unlocking imagination at a very young age. Reading story books is often the very first time we ever start to learn and dream.
Celebrating the transformative power of storytelling, our exclusive interview with The Kids Bookey founder, Lucie Wullschleger, provides a captivating insight into the driving force behind this remarkable initiative.

Q1) Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you started Sharing Stories by the Kids Bookery?
I’m Lucie, mum of 2 Booklovers, 2 and 5 years old.In Dubai since 2020, as a French mum I struggled to find French books and started to discover English kids’ literature gems. The idea of sharing our stories from families to families started to grow to become a reality 3 years later with more than 3000+ titles to borrow and 100+ families served each month.
Q2) For someone who has never heard of Sharing Stories by the Kids Bookery, how can you describe it in one or two sentences?
Sharing Stories by the Kids Bookery is a Kids Library delivered home. We offer books for kids from 0 to 12+ in various languages: English, French Russian, Arabic and more. Our mission: helping families to raise readers while being active of a sharing economy.Q3) What about this initiative resonates with you and why?
I’m passionate about poetic and meaningful stories, beautiful illustrations and playful ways of educating our kids about life.I’m convinced about sustainable ways of doing business and believe in the power of circular economy: many objects do not need to be owned but have their value in the usage we make of them.
Q4) With the rise of movies, audio books, and visual media in general, why should we encourage our kids to read?
Reading is crucial for a child’s development and can have a significant impact on their future. It helps language & cognitive development, fosters imagination & creativity, strengthens emotional bonds, social skills and empathy.Furthermore, in Dubai, as an expats city, readings is also a strong way to connect to our mother cultures and share it to our kids through stories and images.
Q5) How much impact would reading books in a different language be on developing a child’s linguistic skills?
Reading aloud as reading alone are 2 important types of reading and should be emphasized by the parents or caregivers as much as possible as it helps kids developing their language, their vocabulary, their way to express themselves and actually helps kid to build their thoughts.Having different languages to master, kids in Dubai are even more challenged on their ability to express themselves with the proper vocabulary and grammar. Readings from the youngest age, helps them focus with ease which will also help their academic success later on.
Q6) This is surely just a start! What’s next on your journey, and what can we expect?
Sharing Stories is today working with families but also with nurseries, feeding teachers with new stories every month for their story times. We hope to be able to develop more and more business partnerships to help raise readers widely. We are developing also new languages: Italian, Spanish, German and also new categories such as parenting. We wish to soon be able to work with Abu Dhabi families too.
We are always keen to get in touch with people who believe in the sharing economy and hope that the mission will develop greatly in the near future!

Q7) Where Are They Now?
Since our first chat with Lucie Wullschleger, Sharing Stories has grown into something even bigger — becoming The Kids Bookery, a joyful cross-cultural collaboration inspired by the same mission: raising readers through access, storytelling, and sustainability.
In January 2025, Sharing Stories joined forces with Peek a book, founded by children’s book expert Alessandra Rocchi, who had been curating beautiful Italian and Spanish titles for families in Abu Dhabi. Together with their third partner, Marie-Laure El Halaissi, the trio gave birth to The Kids Bookery — a united library service for children aged 0 to 12+, across languages and cultures.
Three mums. Three age groups (toddlers, kids, and preteens). And one shared vision:
To deliver curated stories that grow with your child — straight to your doorstep.
Working closely with both families and educators, The Kids Bookery now supports nurseries and schools across the UAE with fresh reading selections, multilingual storytelling events, and community-driven preloved book fairs.
Come be a part of the Sharing Stories family and raise readers together!
